Rev. Tommy Hays is a Spiritual Director, Teacher, and Prayer Revivalist. He serves as Executive Director of Messiah Ministries, the ministry he founded and leads for interdenominational teaching, preaching, equipping, and prayer ministries of inner healing, deliverance and spiritual formation. Tommy ministers throughout the diverse traditions of the Christian faith. He is ordained as a United Methodist minister under special appointment from his bishop to lead his own ministry rather than serve as a church pastor. He is also a member in covenant relationship and ordained minister with MorningStar Fellowship of Ministries, an international prophetic teaching ministry led by Rick Joyner. He holds a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary (‘97), a Doctor of Jurisprudence from The University of Texas at Austin (’86), and a BBA from The University of Texas at Austin ('83). Tommy serves on the Advisory Council of Aldersgate Renewal Ministries, on the board of Kentucky Christian Foundation, and as a Kentucky Regional Area Advisor for Aglow International Ministries.
Tommy was called to ministry from his law practice as a trial attorney in Texas, and now offers personal prayer ministry and spiritual direction by private appointment through Messiah Ministries at our office in Lexington, Kentucky. He is a frequent speaker in conferences and churches of many ecumenical gatherings, spiritual renewal weekends, and prayer revivals inter-denominationally throughout the United States and the nations. His daily prayer devotional, Morning by Morning, is sent to readers around the world almost every morning by email and his book Free to Be Like Jesus—Transforming Power of Healing & Deliverance is taught by many as a standard resource for inner healing and deliverance prayer ministry.
Tommy also teaches The School of Spiritual Ministry in a number of formats at our home base and by invitation nationally and abroad to train and equip believers for spiritual ministry. Tommy is the father of five wonderful children- Elizabeth, Zachary, Madison, Elijah, and Josiah. He is a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Lexington, Kentucky, where the Messiah Ministries office is currently based. He continues to practice law on select matters from time to time as the Lord leads in the Lexington law firm of Troutman & Hays PLLC (859-253-0991), as a minister in the marketplace and Public Square of the community.
Heather Butler joined our staff support team as the Pastor of Prayer in the spring of 2012. She comes to us with a deep passion for prayer and a long time relationship in support of and ministering alongside Messiah Ministries. Although living in the UK (Wales) she makes herself available for personal prayer sessions over the internet or on the phone and oversees all prayer requests that are sent to us. She considers it a great joy to see the Lord moving within and because of this ministry. Gifted with prophetic words and with wisdom she longs for people to know they are not alone in the path of life and encourages them into healing, breakthrough, calling and destiny in their walk with the Lord.
She has been prayer coordinator for “Pray California”, “Pray Wales” and “Pray UK” in the past, and presently for Hidden Treasures… the ministry she founded and directs. She has coordinated prayer for Carl Brettle from Prayer TV (Wales). She also runs Healing Rooms in Wales, affiliated with the Healing rooms of Spokane, Washington.
“Accessibility and intimacy are very important to me. The lord is stretching and growing us together. It’s not about me being Prayer Pastor, but about enabling others to see their roles are important and how as a team we need each another. I would like to be responsive to those on the prayer team (as well as those calling for prayer) who need encouragement and support in prayer. It’s important that everyone feels they are valued and loved by Jesus and their prayer times are powerful and effective to the pulling down of many strongholds when we move together as one voice with one accord.”

We are grateful for Susan Lewis and her expert experience, knowledge and giftedness in all areas of finance, accounting, and basic technology. She received her Associates Degree in Social Sciences from Lindsey Wilson College and is now taking classes at UK to earn her bachelor’s degree in business. As part time bookkeeper for Messiah Ministries, Susan oversees all financial receipting and payments for the ministry. She comes to us with a passion and love for the Lord and a life time vision which would tie in intimately with our desire for a retreat center. She presently works full time in the Literacy Department at University of Kentucky as a staff assistant in support of the Reading Recovery Program. Susan’s daughter, Elaine McFadden (with son, David) and son, Mark (with daughter Audree) live near her in Lexington. She attends the Vineyard Community Church in Lexington, KY.
